Hi Wade, is there any way to determine the age of a crayfish? I recently caught a 3kg male at about 18m depth, west of Akaroa harbour on Banks Peninsula. Also saw a female of similar size at pretty much the same depth, and with her tail around 50mm thick in berry, just north of Motunau in north Canterbury. A good sign for the local hatchery, as we regularly see large numbers, and good size, but it got me wondering. Any help out there? Cheers, Hugh.
