On my file I have a second story of Moko trying to resue a smaller dolphin about 3 weeks earlier. It died and was buried.
My files have several other stories of dolphins assisting other cetaceans. One in WR harbour when orca were hered out of a stranding situation, was documented by DOC.
Some scientists have questioned the value of human efforts to rescue cetaceans, since we were not there during most of their evolution.
