Divers fro the University of Alaska in Fairbanks have made a series of 300 dives in the remote western Aleutian Islands from Atu to Amlia. Among the new species found was a wandering anemone the size of a basketball that feeds as it moves over the bottom. Near to thermal vents a new kelp was discovered up to ten feet high, that may be a new genus: the golden kelp Aureophycus aleuticus.
