Sorry to be the bearer of sad news but it would appear that Moko is dead. A male bottlenose dolphin has washed ashore at Matakana Island. Based on its species, sex, size and lost teeth it would appear to be MOKO. The body has been recovered and will be transported to Massey in Palmerston Nth for an autopsy. This is a very sad event and New Zealand has sadly lost what has been a truly incredible Dolphin. Jamie Quirk Area Compliance Officer / Marine Ranger GISBORNE WHAKATANE AREA
