I will forward higher resolution photos ASAP. No photos of flukes captured, unfortunately, nor any genetic samples taken. These photos were taken by a colleague in Mele Bay, just outside of Vila on September 10th. It would be interesting to know where in Vanuatu your friend photographed the mother and calf (presumably the same two whales) on the 7th? The whales headed south when they left the area later in the day.
Could you let us know when these two were sighted in the Bay of Islands?
