Hi Wade,

Crispin and I did an amazing dive around passage island in Whangarei harbour on the 27-12-09. the anemones and sponges were beautiful, I spotted (and Crispin photographed) some rather peculiar nudibranchs, they were on some sponges at 12.5m depth from looking at the sea slug forum and ian skipworths website I believe it is Atagema carinata, it has a hard ridge down its back had a rough surface as described on sea slug forum. As far as the literature I believe most of the records are from the far south?! One of the attached pictures also has an egg mass on it. there were four of these guys together in one spot, we didnt see any others. Crispin apologises for the quality of the pictures the current was absolutely ripping.

Hope you enjoy the pics, and can shed some light

Cheers Irene van de Ven
