MOKO SOLO DOLPHIN NOW HAS MINDERS

A team of minders will patrol in Gisborne waters over the ensuing five weeks to ensure the safety of Moko.  I am now advised there are several   buoys in the area that Moko is using for resting zones: one off Waikanae; another up the river [near a lit up Xmas Norfolk pine] used by waka amas for turning; larger channel buoys and  a wave buoy.  So around all these markers, when he is in resting mode, he should be left alone.  Otherwise  he may get cranky- as would we , if deprived of our rest.  It will be obvious when he  is up for games...

One aspect re Moko: if authorities  think the problems raised by solo dolphins will go away by ignoring them: the history of them in my Project Interlock archive indicates quite the opposite. Like small children, if ignored they find ways of commanding attention.

Aihe stranded herself eight times  near Onekaka , Golden Bay. She even got a sunburnt back;  it is believed she did this to get attention.

For the same reason Jock  used to deliberately  entangle his tail stock in ropes; until  he got adequate attention.  Then his neurotic behaviour stopped -and eventually , he rejoined the group of dolphins in Adelaide's Port River.  Wade Doak Project Interlock
